The NHS has over 1.3 million employees, catering to the health needs of 53.9 million people. Ensuring the safety of each and every one of its workers is a huge undertaking – not least because many NHS staff members have to travel as part of their role and conduct home visits.
The NHS equips its at risk staff members with a “Lone Worker” device, containing sophisticated electronics to safeguard the user. For example, the device is able to detect if its owner has fallen over and automatically raise an alarm, or the alarm can be activated manually if the user is feeling threatened.
This vital technology is delivered by an external supplier, and every few years the NHS must re-tender to select the best possible provider. Conducting due diligence on each of the contenders is a detailed technical process, and this is where Control F1 was able to help with the evaluation of the Lone Worker devices proposed by each supplier.
As leaders in the field of telematics we tested the hardware and software, and carefully reviewed how each provider performed against the NHS’ requirements.
We then wrote an impartial report on each of the prospective devices, giving the NHS the evidence it needed to make an informed decision.
